The faculty was established in September 2002, and at the beginning it was named the faculty of pre-university training and professional-orientation work. In August, 2011, by the order of the Interior Minister of the Republic of Belarus it was renamed and is now called the faculty of career guidance.
The main tasks of the faculty:
1. Organization, coordination and conduct of career guidance work with students.
Since 2002 the faculty has been responsible for the organization and carrying out of career guidance work with students from secondary schools, lyceums, gymnasiums. This work is aimed at attracting the youth to enter the Academy, other universities and special schools of legal profile for the future service at internal affairs agencies.
For this purpose 159 legal classes counting 3288 pupils have been created in 59 educational establishments.
Professional orientation work of the Academy with students has yielded tangible results. Thus, in 2004–2011 more than 40% of the nearly 4000 people who studied at law classes entered higher educational institutions and schools of legal profile. Among them 288 have become the cadets of the Academy, more than 100 are now the cadets of the Military Academy.
2. Professional orientation work and training of servicemen of the internal troops of the Republic of Belarus for entering the Academy and other educational institutions.
Each year in conformity with the prescription of the Interior Minister of the Republic of Belarus the faculty organizes visits to various units of internal troops of the Republic to attract servicemen to enter the Academy and continue their service in law enforcement agencies. On the basis of military unit 3310 (Okolitsa) the faculty also organizes the work of the training meeting of servicemen of the internal troops who firmly decided to come to study at the Academy and at Mogilev higher college or the faculty of the Interior troops of the Military Academy. 516 soldiers were trained at such meetings in 2004–2011.
Out of 438 servicemen who passed the centralized testing almost every third soldier had his dream realized and became a cadet of the educational institutions of the Interior Ministry. 53 of them successfully entered the Academy, 70 - Mogilev higher college of the Interior Ministry, 46 – the faculty of internal troops of the Military Academy.
In 2011 the results were even better. Every second trainee of the meetings became a cadet of the Academy from the total number of soldiers trying to enter higher educational institutions of a law profile.
Training courses for future participants of the centralized testing.
The educational programs for entering educational institutions of Belarus have been successfully realized for ten years at preparatory courses in individual subjects. The students of the courses are specifically prepared for the centralized testing in mathematics, social studies, Russian and Belarusian (optional). The duration of training at the courses is 8, 6 and 4 months.
In 2011 all students of the preparatory courses successfully passed the centralized testing.
