The chair was created in June 1994 and was then named the chair of execution of sentences. The chair has had its current name since 2003.

Subjects taught at the chair:

Correctional law;
Organizational and legal basics of the activities of detention facilities;
Execution of sentences not related to the isolation of convicts from the society;
Organization of labour of convicts and economy in correctional establishments;
Organizational and legal basics of the work of activity therapy centres;
Management in correctional system;
Organization of regimen in correctional establishments;
Criminology and crime prevention;
Crime prevention;
Criminology.

Main areas of scientific research:

Perfection of legal and organizational foundations of the activities of correctional system of the Republic of Belarus;
Organization and legal support of the activities of correctional establishments;
Scientific and methodological basics of crime cognition and prevention efficiency;
Scientific development of the issue of organized crime and the practice of combating it in the Republic of Belarus;
Perfection of prevention activities in respect of juvenile crime;
Perfection of activities of law-enforcement agencies on preventing recidivism.
